It was a day filled with so much celebration and jollification, everyone was in high spirits and there was so much fun as Covenant University, Ota, Ogun state Nigeria had its 13th Convocation on Friday 20th of July 2018.
Two of our campus ambassadors representing us at the institution did make us proud as they graduated in flying colours. The two students Obinna Ezekwesili graduated from the department of Computer and Information Science while Yvonne Ogbekile graduated from the department of Sociology.
Representatives from PayPorte were present at the ceremony to celebrate with the students as it stands we are one big family at PayPorte, the ceremony was also graced by the MD/CEO of PayPorte global Systems Mr. Eyo Bassey.
The ceremony was held at the university chapel and the key note speaker was Mrs. Ibukun Awosika who lectured on the topic, ‘Influencing Change in Africa: Roles and Responsibilities of Emerging Leaders’. She advised the graduating students to identify every problem as an opportunity to proffer solutions to them, especially, those confronting the country.
Awosika said that the graduates had better opportunities because they had real value of education from a good university that impacted quality education on them.
“Challenges do not destroy vision but they empowered vision,” she said.
Awosika, however, advised the graduates not to allow circumstances to overcome their sense of vision.
She also enjoined them to seek knowledge with character, adding that without character, it would be difficult to actualize their dreams
A total of 1887 students graduated, 1522 first degree graduands and 365 post-graduate students graduated. 238 students were awarded with first class honours, 746 students were awarded with second class upper honours, 452 students for second class lower and 86 students graduated with third class.
It was indeed a memorable event and once again a big congratulations to our ambassadors they sure made us proud.
