Your favourite make-up girl is back, I’m sorry i’ve been away, had to prepare for my wedding and all but I’m back now so let’s learn something new.
Having to do your makeup and making it stay all through the day with a smooth finish, has been a major concern to makeup artists and makeup lovers all over the world. Achieving a day to night slay became an issue, a solution to this must be somewhere, right? And, that brings me to the topic I am sharing with you guys today-On what a makeup Setting Spray is and its functions.
WHAT IS A MAKEUP SETTING SPRAY?
There are so many setting sprays flooding the market right now. This has been the case in the last few years. However, people barely know what they are and what their functions are. Some people even confuse its function with that of a primer, however, it goes further than that.
Simply put, ‘a Setting Spray’ is a cosmetic product designed to preserve applied make-up last for a long period of time. It is also called ‘finishing spray, finish spray, makeup setting spray or makeup spray. In other words, if you want your makeup to last longer and stay exactly how you applied it, you should try using a setting spray. It can be used occasionally not necessary for everyday use.
Just like the name implies, it actually keeps your face makeup in place just like an hair spray keeps hair in place after washing and drying the hair. The setting spray also does the following;
- A makeup setting spray adds shine to your skin.
- It comes in a budget.
- It helps to get a slightly glossier look after makeup.
- It is very easy to use and not time consuming.
There are also affordable drugstore setting sprays that will keep you in budget. You can get any of them and be sure to still get the desired result.
HOW TO USE THE MAKEUP SETTING SPRAY?
As there a many makeup products in the market, so it is with setting sprays. There are Primer Sprays, Blending Sprays, Finishing Sprays and Intensifying Sprays-Though they look the same, they are applied and used differently.
Different products comes with different ingredients, so before applying the setting spray SHAKE THE BOTTLE lightly, so as to mix the settled ingredients together.
After that, SPRAY YOUR ENTIRE, MAKEUP LOOK. Hold the bottle six to eight inches away from your face and apply a few squirts. This is because you want to give your entire face a finishing look, so do not spray closely.
One way to ensure full coverage is to spray the setting spray in an “X” shape over your face, and then again in a “T” shape over your face.
Do not rub it in, just allow it the spray to dry naturally.
If during the day, you want to touch-up your face, reapply the setting spray to seal your look longer.
Remember, always close your eyes when applying it.
INGREDIENTS IN A MAKEUP SETTING SPRAY
1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
1 tablespoon witch hazel
5 drops of lavender essential oil
2½ tablespoons purified water
glass spray bottle
These are the regular ingredients in a makeup setting spray. However, for a makeup setting spray to be able to keep the makeup in place and long lasting, ALCOHOL should be present. But for those with an aging skin, the regular setting spray, like the dehydrating spray, is perfect for them.
ARE MAKEUP SETTING SPRAYS AND PRIMERS THE SAME?
Considering the functions of the products – primer and setting spray, which is, they help to enhance your makeup and look and helps it stay a little longer; they are applied differently. A primer, on one hand, is applied pre-makeup, whereas, a makeup setting spray is applied post-makeup. Though both are a boon to those who want to keep their makeup in place and at the same – enhance it. And, yes, you can use both together if you want to.
As seen in this blog, Makeup Setting Sprays are makeup extenders and there are different types of affordable professional makeup setting sprays.
