OUR BOYS DID NOT COME TO PLAY!
The super eagles of Nigeria arrived in Russia on Monday night, they looked fashionable in a green and white ensembles complete with hats and shoes, this particular will definitely win any fashion contest if there was one. The jerseys caused an uproar and this travel outfit has caused a lot of reactions on social media and trust me our boys are definitely killing it.
The Nigeria travel outfit, made by a local designer, not only taps into the country’s traditional culture but also gives a nod to the team’s football identity, with embroidered Eagle wings and a football on the chest and collar.
This outfit definitely came with our ‘aso-ebi’ spirit as the boys dressed up like men who are attending an owanbe party, of a truth, with this outfit our boys did not come to play and we must make an impression on the pitch.
According to Kwese ESPN, head coach Gernot Rohr insists that his team are more than just fashionable trendsetters, and are focused on getting ready for their first game against Croatia on June 16.
“We are happy to be here after working so hard. But we continue to work and we continue to be humble and we will be ready for Croatia because the first game, it is a very important game, not the clothes,” Rohr said.
The squad were treated to a brief welcome reception by hotel staff and a handful of Nigerians in Essentuki, many of whom are students at the Essentuki Institiute of Management, Business and Law.
After Croatia, the Nigerians continue group play against Iceland on June 22 and Argentina on June 26.
We sure believe in the super Eagles and we hope they will make us proud by bringing home a medal but until then let’s keep our fingers crossed.
