Wednesdays are for amazing and strong women and today we are shining our spotlight on a strong and intellectual woman. Uche Jombo is not new to our TV screen, she has been in the acting industry for well over ten years and the amazing thing about her is that she has managed to stay relevant all these years and it’s beyond talent.
Uche Jombo was born 28th of December 1979 in Abriba, Abia State, Nigeria. She is a graduate of Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Calabar and Computer Programming from the Federal University of Technology Minna.
She ventured into the Nigerian movie industry in 1999 in the movie Visa to hell. As a screenwriter she has written and co-written several movies some of which include: The Celebrity, Games Men Play, Girls in the Hood & A Time to Love. She went on to produce films such as Nollywood Hustlers, Holding Hope, Damage etc., she recently announced that she is co-producing a movie with Ini Edo titled Heaven on my mind. Her acting skills is compared to none, she brings in her A game to every movie which is why she is always flying high.
Uche Jombo has several awards both locally and internationally. In 2008, she won best actress of the year at Afro Hollywood Awards in the united Kingdom, she won the Nollywood personality award in United Kindgom in 2010, best actress in a leading role by ELOY awards, Humanitarian award for Haiti in New York, USA, Abriba Youth Honour of Pride Award in 2010 and the Abia state Award in 2010 amongst others.
Uche has believed in women Empowerment, she championed the cause of reducing and stopping Domestic Abuse, she even wrote a movie to support that cause. I almost forgot Uche is a die-hard Man United fan.
