NIGERIA VS ATLETICO MADRID

 

The international friendly match between Nigeria and Atletico Madrid at the Godwin Akpabio stadium Uyo was definitely a tough one, both teams came out all prepared and you will agree that both teams did a fantastic job but it’s a game so there can only be one winner and for yesterday’s match it was Atletico Madrid.

Kelechi Nwakali scored the opening goal for the super eagles and some minutes later Atletico Madrid’s Angel Correa equalized the game with another goal, at the end of the first half the scores was still 1-1. The Super Eagles almost restored their lead before half time, but substitute Destiny Ashadi missed an open net after great work by Samad.

The second half began and the game was getting tougher former Chelsea striker, Fernando Torres, headed the Europa League champions into the lead. But Usman Mohammed scored a goal for super eagles thereby causing a draw between the two teams with five minutes left Borja Ganes scored the goal that declared the winner which made the scores 3-2.

Diego Simeone – Atletico Madrid coach

Diego Simeone, the Atletico Madrid of Spain Coach, has described the match has a tough tie in his words he said “”We are happy to be here today. It was a difficult match though we won. The Super Eagles played very well, they tried,” Simeone said. The coach said that his team came with the mind to play and win even though it was a friendly match.

Salisu Yusuf Super Eagles coach

The Super Eagles Coach, Salisu Yusuf, commended his boys for their superlative performance in spite of the loss. Yusuf said that although his team played very well Atletico Madrid showed maturity and experience, adding that the two goals conceded by his team were cheap. “”We played compact football, they have maturity and were more experienced than us. ““We are going to develop the team to the next level. They played against the best,” he said. He said with such performance the Eagles team B could metamorphose into dependable team for the future. The Super Eagles Captain, Musa Mohammed, said they were happy to trade tackles with the Spanish premier league giants.
